Application Deadlines

*We are currently not taking applications for the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) and Sustainable Bioenergy and Bioeconomy (SBB) tracks for Spring 2025 at this time.

*Please note that admissions is not on a rolling basis. Applications will only be reviewed after the deadline dates stated above. Applicants will usually receive results of their application by the Graduate College within a month after the deadline dates.

Prerequisites

Students who wish to apply to the PSM degree in Applied Biosciences must have the minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelors (or equivalent) degree with a major in an area of biosciences from an accredited institution (must be completed before the start of the program). You can see the requirements of degrees by country on the Graduate College website.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA
  • A desire to pursue a professional career in the applied biosciences.

Application Requirements

Students should apply directly to the specific track in the program they wish to pursue. The application should be submitted online (only) via the Graduate College website (http://grad.arizona.edu). Be prepared to submit the following materials:

  • Scans of all transcripts (official versions will be requested if you are selected for admission)
  • GRE scores (recommended but not required; general test only)
  • English Proficiency  (required if you are not a native speaker of English). You can see if you're required to provide an English proficiency test by country on the Graduate College website. Below are acceptable English credentials:
  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of 79 iBT (or 60 on the revised PBT with no section score lower than 15).  Individual MyBest scores must also be dated within 2 years of the enrollment term to be considered valid.
  2. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - minimum composite score of 7, with no subject area below a 6.
  3. Pearson PTE Academic - minimum score of 60
  4. CEPT Full Academic test - 110

  • GPAs for all undergraduate work
  • A one to two page statement of interests, which outlines your background (including any professional experience) and your professional goals.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation (typically former or current professors or work supervisors) who can comment on your skills, training and potential for the PSM in Applied Biosciences.  You will need to include their names and email addresses in your online application. An email will be sent to them directly to upload their letter in our system.

Admissions Process

  1. The program receives your application in the application system.
  2. After the application deadline, all applications are reviewed by the Executive Committee. This process takes about 2 weeks.
  3. Once the Executive Committee submit their decisions, the decisions to either recommend for admittance or deny are sent to the Graduate College.
  4. If recommended for admittance, the Graduate College evaluates and verifies the applicant's credentials. This process can take between 2-4 weeks.
  5. Once a successful verification is completed, the Graduate College will send out official offer letters of admittance.
